The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the supervisor, Building Services, the Head Cleaner is responsible for the planning, assignment, control, and execution of custodial work, whether standard duties or special assignments.

Responsibilities



  • Maintain communications with customers, monitor job progress, and conduct inspections.
  • Adheres to standard system schedules and routines in the allocation of assignments to his/her crew following established methods and procedures and using the correct equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Monitors and performs cleaning, dusting, wall washing, carpet shampooing, vacuuming, stripping, scrubbing, waxing, and buffing of floors, rooms, offices, and other interior spaces.
  • Observe and report all damage, malfunctions, or deficiencies of Customer Service and reports problematic conditions, safety hazards, or breaches of security to the supervisor or others as appropriate.
  • Requisitions and issues material supplies and equipment.
  • Candidates must be physically fit to do extensive walking, stair climbing, medium lifting and carrying, and overhead work.
  • The work schedule includes weekends.


Minimum Qualifications



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to communicate and give verbal and written instructions in English.
  • The ability to speak Spanish is helpful.
  • Five years experience as a Heavy Cleaner, previous leadership and training experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good working knowledge of equipment and machinery operations.
  • Must be able to work independently.


Preferred Qualifications




  • Ability to perform minor repairs preferred.
