The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Associate Director, Columbia College Fund in the Columbia College Office of Alumni Relations and Development (CCARD), this role is responsible for a wide variety of projects for the Senior Associate Director and the Executive Director, Columbia College Fund, and also broadly supports top fundraising efforts across the development and alumni relations team. These duties include, but are not limited to, assisting the Senior Associate Director with the management of the prominent giving societies housed within the Columbia College Fund. The Assistant Director will also be tasked with assisting the Executive Director with administrative and donor-relations tasks related to the two main fundraising galas, the Hamilton Dinner and the John Jay Dinner.

Responsibilities




  • Assist with managing several leadership giving societies, including but not limited to the Alumnae Legacy Circle, the Fund Development Council, and the International Leadership Society. S/he will be responsible for supporting the management and direction of these groups, their volunteer leaders, and their fundraising and membership goals. The Assistant Director will aid the Senior Associate Director with the administrative and frontward-facing aspects of these groups and in doing so will help grow these leadership societies, steward their members, and support their activity in an effort to increase dollars raised in the College Annual Fund.



  • Work closely with the Executive Director on both the Hamilton and John Jay Dinners. S/he will work closely with the Alumni Events team to coordinate with honorees and volunteers. S/he will work with the dinner committees, assist in handling communications, and edit printed materials. This role researches and compiles reports on individuals and specific cohorts as requested. S/he will efficiently handle administrative tasks to ensure that the needs of dinner sponsors/donors are met and the fundraising goals for each dinner are achieved.



  • Performs other duties as assigned, including small project-based work and administrative tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree and/or its equivalent is required.
  • 2 years experience is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
  • Discretion, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilities under changing deadlines in a fast-paced office is required.
  • Proficiency with word processing.
  • Excellent spreadsheet skills and experience with presentation software (i.e. PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications




  • Experience in a university or other complex organization preferred.
