Our Market Development Specialist facilitates interaction and business relationships between independent foodservice operators and Gordon Food Service Stores within assigned territory. In this role, you will represent Gordon Food Service Store products and services. Bring new customers to Gordon Food Service Storesaccelerating market penetration of commercial & Non-commercial wholesale business. You will also focus on new account acquisition, developing and supporting customer sales with the Store team.

Here are some ways you will make an impact:

  • Meeting with current and potential customers and developing a pipeline of potential business.

  • Travel throughout the assigned territory; contacts customers at their place of business to acquire new wholesale customers, selling Gordon Food Service products and services.

  • Develops customer relationships and effectively collaborates with Store Managers sharing customer ownership.

  • Understands Store KPI's, meeting or exceeding financial indicators related to sales goals for assigned stores.

  • Identifies opportunities for the customer to build their business and provides value-add services to support.

  • Educates and promotes Gordon Food Service "Pick-up In Store" and "Express Van Delivery" technology to enhance the customer experience and build loyalty.

If this sounds like you, make sure you also meet these requirements:

  • Three (3) or more years previous sales or business experience to include experience or an interest in food business practices and food preparation, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. In lieu of the specified education and experience requirements, a proven capability to perform the essential functions of the job, as demonstrated by an equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Travel Requirements: Day travel within the assigned territory in Macon and surrounding areas.
  • Strong customer service skills, growth mindset, good communication skills, and the ability to work on a team.
  • You must be 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma / Equivalent (required)
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Sales, or Marketing (preferred)
  • Successfully pass our pre-employment checks, including a drug screen, criminal background check, and MVR (motor vehicle report)
  • Must maintain a valid, unrestricted state driver's license and safe driving record per GFS policy (required)
