The Midstream Operations Accountant requires an individual who understands the principles of operations and midstream accounting. This individual will need to be able to analyze data received from multiple operations groups and sources to develop analytics and cost reporting for a respective area and/or product. The job required the ability to work with others, multi-task and meet deadlines for operational reporting as well as monthly accounting close processes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with other internal groups to review and interpret accounting transactions to ensure appropriate treatment
  • Develop, document, and monitor a system of controls, policies, procedures, and forms for the recording of accruals
  • Review, coordinate, and maintain accounting data to ensure it appropriately reflects transactions in SAP and supporting systems
  • Assist in Ad Valorem research, journal entries and monthly processes
  • Prepare schedules, journal entries, and analysis as it relates to operating expenses, which may include the following:
    • Establish processes for cost reviewal and reporting within SAP
    • Analyze, coordinate, and assist in maintaining SAP hierarchy structure as it relates to reporting
    • Perform/create ad hoc queries and analysis as requested by management
    • Assist with A&D activity and special requests as needed
  • Adhere to month-end close checklist/processes to ensure all month-end reporting requirements are timely and fully completed within a strict timeline to include journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist in the production of monthly and quarterly reports (including FERC reporting) and other cost analysis as needed
  • Assist with audits as they relate to midstream operational accounting
  • Assist operations with reporting and analysis related to capital and/or LOE costs
  • Review ledger for proper treatment and classifications for acquisition and divestiture activity
  • Other duties or projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BBA or BS) in Finance, Accounting, or similar discipline
  • Five (5+) years of Oil and Gas accounting experience
  • Five (5+) or more years of demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP experience preferred
  • Ad Valorem Tax experience a plus
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team
  • Eye for continuous improvement opportunities
  • Flexible regarding workload and priorities
  • Ability to pick up on new concepts quickly
  • Effective communication skills to work with all levels of the organization
  • Possess a positive and team-oriented attitude
