The Department of Pharmacy, consistent with the mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine, places a priority on teaching, research and patient care. At Johns Hopkins Hospital, the department is responsible for providing acute care pharmacy services for a diverse population of medical and surgical patients, with additional services provided within the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center and affiliated clinics. Within the department, there are 45 acute care and primary care clinical pharmacy specialists as well as 31 general and specialized pharmacy residents.

The Clinical Pharmacist II in Medicine - Meyer 8 provides expert pharmaceutical care to Medicine/Hospitalist patients on Meyer 8. This role involves daily rounding with the Hospitalist team to optimize complex pharmacotherapy regimens, performing medication order review and verification for Meyer 8 patients (8 AM - 1 PM), and covering occasional order verification shifts (~2 per 8-week schedule) for other units. Responsibilities include medication therapy management, interdisciplinary collaboration, patient care coordination, education, committee involvement, policy and procedure development, and research activities. Additionally, this pharmacist will provide drug information and education to patients, students, residents, pharmacists, and other healthcare practitioners while contributing to research and quality improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:




  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in Pharm D. or BS degree.
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 residency program or equivalent experience is required
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-2 residency program specializing in Medicine is preferred
  • Current licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland required.
  • Board Certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties or a certification deemed appropriate for the practitioner's practice setting by Division Director is required within 2 years of start date.
  • Hospital and departmental education requirements completed within 90 days of hire. BLS certification is required and ACLS certification is desired.

Salary Range: Minimum 54.59 per hour - Maximum 90.15 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
