Job Summary:
A well-established company in the real estate industry is seeking an Accountant to manage financial reporting and accounting functions for a portfolio of properties. This role involves auditing financial records, closing books, preparing statements, and maintaining accurate documentation. The Accountant will work closely with leadership, including the CFO, General Counsel, Controller, and Director of Investments, providing financial support as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and distribute monthly and quarterly financial reports along with supporting schedules.
  • Process and review invoices for accuracy and proper coding.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly and conduct variance analyses.
  • Ensure accuracy of special billings, property tax, and insurance invoices, verifying proper documentation.
  • Review construction draw requests to confirm adequate supporting documentation.
  • Work alongside the Controller to monitor and reconcile tenant accounts.
  • Investigate unusual fluctuations in income and expenses, providing accounting support as necessary.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process.
  • Generate standard and ad hoc journal entries with appropriate backup documentation.
  • Support external auditors and assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of accounting experience, ideally within the real estate industry.
  • Experience in construction accounting is a plus.
  • Strong grasp of fundamental accounting principles and their application.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
