Summary

Provides leadership of the Pharmacy Department by developing, implementing, and administering policies and procedures related to the safe usage of medications and management of patient care and patient safety. Ensures that labor and supply resources are utilized in the most cost-efficient manner.

Job Duties

  • Directs pharmacy programs and department staff
  • Ensures pharmacy compliance including staff education with all regulatory bodies, including but not limited to DOH, SBOP, DEA and Joint Commission
  • Responsible for hospital wide drug procurement, distribution and preparation including plans to mitigate drug shortages
  • Responsible for maintaining and evaluating the quality of pharmaceutical care delivered in the hospital system
  • Collaborates and participates in interdisciplinary groups to ensure appropriate medication use
  • Identifies expense reduction opportunities and develops plans to execute them
  • Identifies and implements medication safety improvements across the health system
  • Consistently evaluates pharmacy services needed in alignment with network goals and other quality aspects of patient care

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in pharmacy
  • 5 years of experience working in a hospital pharmacy and
  • 2 years of experience in pharmacy management.
  • Knowledge to explain and apply SBOP, JCAHO, DEA, and hospital policies.
  • RP - Registered Pharmacist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in business (MBA) or
  • Doctorate in Pharm D.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
