Inside the Role

The position works with our external third party logistics (3PL) partner to oversee the packaging supply chain (mainly DTNA owned returnable racks) within the DTNA transportation network. The primary function of this position is to provide packaging engineering expertise and guidance to ensure our network of rack designs meet the basic requirements of our stakeholders. i.e.- safety, quality, durability, efficiency, ergo, etc. This position will also be responsible for working with our US suppliers and truck plants to manage and address critical packaging topics.

In addition, they will support business execution of new programs and initiatives that include promotional activities, forecast and coordination for key events, new product launches, and network redesigns.

Position offers a starting salary range of $74,500.00- $95,000.00 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Provide packaging engineering expertise and guidance on the specification, acquisition, development, and application of returnable packaging systems for use between material suppliers and DTNA locations.

  • Conduct analyses of new product projects to determine their impact to returnable packaging. Develop cost justifications for impacted projects.

  • Maintain, develop, and implementpackaging and parts delivery solutions for throughput and quality improvements with DTNA plants and material suppliers by following through the procurement process including; project justification, concept design, prototype design & testing, and calculating system size requirements.

  • Operate as a key Contact for other DTNA departments as it relates to interfaces with 3PL

  • Support the oversight and steering of 3PL scope and performance

  • Develop and track performance metrics (KPI's) of our business partner both internally and at their facility.

  • Apply project management skills while working closely with the plants, material suppliers, rack suppliers, Material Planning, Customs, and Traffic to coordinate projects to their completion.

  • Knowledge of ergonomic principles used in working environments will be helpful.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degreein Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related technical field OR an Associate's degree with 2 year of related experience OR 4 years of related Daimler experience is required.

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills in English (knowledge of Spanish is desirable).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows applications including Excel is required.Knowledge of SQL Server/Access, NX, CATIA, AutoCAD and /or SolidWorks is a plus.

  • Travel will be required to the DTNA plants along with travel to packaging suppliers and materials suppliers.
