Flexible 40 hour work week with evening and weekend hours required in conjunction with The Dubois Center or main campus class & event schedules.

This position works at The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City and will be responsible to travel to the main campus for training and to cover as needed.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Audiovisual Event Support Technician is responsible for providing quality live audio/video and computer support services for events, meetings, conferences, classes, and broadcasts for the University community and external clients. The technician will provide user assistance and training with operation of multimedia systems and interact with staff, faculty, and guests. The technician will also conduct regular inspections of Production Facilities; perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex Audio Visual hardware problems and implement corrective solutions; maintain documentation of Audio Visual (AV) maintenance, failures, removal and installation; maintain inventory of Production equipment
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the position's role. Computer coursework may be substituted year-for- year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from high school and one year of experience in the field of technology related to the position's role. Coursework in computer or information technology may be substituted year for year for the required experience.
Essential Job Duties

  • Interacts with staff, faculty, and guests.
  • Trains clients (staff, vendors, etc.) on the use of installed AV systems.
  • Conducts regular inspections of Production Facilities; perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex Audio Visual (AV) hardware problems and implement corrective solutions; maintain documentation of AV maintenance, failures, removal, and installation; maintain inventory of Production equipment.
  • Receives and communicates with members of the team in an effective and professional manner.

Other Work Responsibilities

  • Provides back-up support for the main campus Classroom Support Call Center and resolve service calls within a ten-minute window using remote management software
  • Troubleshoots and repairs classroom AV systems in The Dubois Center.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Three (3) years of audio-visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment is preferred.
  • Eighteen (18) months of demonstrated experience in audio-visual support work.
  • Three (3) years of customer service or hospitality experience is preferred with high level of customer service capabilities and ability to interact with clients professionally.
  • Previous experience in live AV event support preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of current industry practices and standards used in the support of audio-visual technology
  • Ability to independently complete and prioritize work tasks.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to travel between The Dubois Center at UNC Charlotte Center City and Main campus locations as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail needed for position.
