Posting Closing Date: Until Filled Shift: All Security Clearance: No Clearance Job Summary Performs electrical repairs and maintenance to the yard facilities, utilities, power distribution, and production equipment. Performs new installations and modifications to yard facilities, utilities, power distribution, and production equipment. Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position. Qualification Standards This position requires a high school education and a trade school certificate in electrical training or equivalent work experience performing electrical repairs. Must have experience working with voltages up to and including 480VAC. Experience with higher voltages is a plus. Must be able to read and troubleshoot equipment and systems from schematics, diagrams, and other manufactures' documentation. Must be trained in energy recognition, electrical safety protection equipment, and lockout/tagout procedures. Must have a valid driver's license. Must have the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and be able to work any shift. Must be able to understand written and verbal instructions, hear warning signals, and read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations, and warnings. Essential Job Tasks
Materials, Tools Equipment, Work Aids Test equipment such as voltage meters, current meters, megometers, tachometers, multimeters, infrared optics, sonic testers, circuit testers, high voltage testers, high pots, ground fault circuit testers, circuit tracers, etc. Other equipment installed meters and gauges. Tools and work aids such as soldering irons and guns, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, bench grinders, port-a-powers, hand trucks, lifts, chain falls, jib cranes, man lifts, forklifts, scissor lifts, conduit benders, tubing benders, crimpers, and bench vises. Production equipment defined as equipment utilizing electrical switches, relay logic type, and simple analog controls. Personal protective equipment required. Physical/Mental Involvement Works in all areas of the shipyard requiring repetitive or prolonged walking, climbing, standing, balancing, handling, reaching, pushing/pulling, bending, stooping/crouching, kneeling, reclining, sitting, seeing, hearing, and manual and finger dexterity. Must be able to regularly lift/carry up to 60 lbs. unassisted. Must be able to work in full bodied positions. Must be able to maintain general safety awareness, by hearing warning signals, reading and comprehending safety instructions, and avoid hazards commonly present in an employee's work area. Marginal Job Tasks Perform housekeeping, including sweeping, in all work areas. Attend safety quality and/or process improvement meetings as required. Environmental Factors Works outdoors more than 50% of the time with constant exposure to wind, wet, and humid conditions Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, gases, various climates and temperatures, and low ventilation conditions, all of which may cause discomfort and/or respiratory difficulties. Exposure to constantly moving machines and mechanical parts and high levels of constant noise. PAY SCALE $33.36 - $36.71 This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the hourly range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
