New Product Dev Eng Co-Op - Fall 2025

The Role:
Our site in Billerica, MA is seeking a/an New Product Development Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Fall 2025 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.

The New Product Development Engineering Co-Op will focus on bringing new products to market. The position primarily involves product and equipment design, intellectual property investigation, prototyping, as well as hands-on process development. Co-ops will gain valuable experience in plastic product design and automated manufacturing practices.

What You'll Do:
* Conduct research and assembling design proposals, providing accurate timelines for project tasks, and clearly presenting project details
* Ideate, model, prototype, develop, conduct peer reviews and introduce new products and processing technologies
* Perform automation equipment design and development
* Fixture and component design and implementation using 3D modeling and drawing techniques
* Collaborate with team members to review concepts, prototypes, designs, drawings, and technical specifications
* Part failure analysis with emphasis on identifying root cause and suggestions for improvement
* Critical thinking and problem solving, constantly striving to improve the product development process
* Adapt to project scope changes, analyzing and resolving problems and making quick, responsible decisions with limited information

What We Seek:
* Creative, detail-oriented, able to solve complex problems using methodical approach and rational thinking
* Familiarity with SolidWorks (3D modeling and drawing)
* Manual dexterity, basic knowledge of tools and how to use them
* Willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced working environment
* Strong communication skills, ability to convey information both verbally and in writing
* Innovative thinking and problem solving
* Team player who leads by example

Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:
* Mechanical Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
* Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program with a graduation date of December 2025 or later

Eligibility:
* Must be a currently enrolled student
* Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in July through December
* Must be familiar with the university's requirements to participate in a co-op program

* Compensation: $20-$30/hour range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role
