THE POSITION

The Department of General Services (DGS), Bureau of Procurement (BOP), is seeking a dependable Management Technician to serve as a Customer Service Representative. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this vital role, the Management Technician serves as a Customer Service Representative, having person-to-person communications with employees and the public responding to customers' inquiries received through various communication vehicles. You will assist the DGS BOP personnel and suppliers with the use of computers, laptops, AV equipment for supplier registrations, online bidding and presentations. This includes identifying problems, analyzing data, determining appropriate solutions, and initiating required action. Your organizational skills will be utilized as you keep detailed records on customer interactions and transactions, recording details of inquirers, complaints and comments as well as action taken to resolve. You will have the opportunity to work together with IES and BOP staff to communicate solutions to IT related issues to our customers and communicate resolution to all end users.

Other duties to include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for assisting agencies and suppliers with access and troubleshooting program issues. This task requires professional effective communication between the customer, the group Admin for the CRP program and DGS BOP
  • Coordinating resolution to issues related to specific contracts or bids with Commodity Specialists
  • Gathering documentation needed to respond to requests submitted under the PA Right-to-Know Law.
  • Providing backup support to the clerical staff responsible for posting bid and contract documentation to the website
  • Providing backup support to receptionists and all clerical positions in the Bureau when necessary

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, eligible for up to four days of telework after initial training period as decided by manager. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of advanced clerical or para-professional work which included the collection, recording, compilation, and presentation of office management or program related information; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training. An Associate's Degree may be substituted for two years of required experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
