Overview
R&P is looking for an experienced Marine Electrician / Technician II to fill a full-time position undertaking a variety of tasks relating to installing, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical and electronic equipment onboard LCS Class Navy ships in San Diego, CA. This position will involve installing electrical cabling, building various electrical connectors, Installation of hardware and troubleshooting malfunctions in several different electrical and electronic systems. Due to the high amount of risk pertaining to this job, electricians must be first and foremost responsible individuals with great attention to safety precautions. The ideal candidate must also be experienced in different kinds of electrical devices and systems. Previous LCS Class experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and execute plans of electrical installations for many different electrical and electronic systems such as lighting, announcing, 115VAC/440VAC/24DVC electrical plant equipment, Uninterrupted Power Supply equipment, Audio/Video equipment, Antenna systems and many others
- Install electrical cabinets, fixtures, and equipment for various electrical systems
- Install safety and distribution components (e.g., switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
- Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks using various MIL-SPEC connectors
- Pull in cables of various lengths and sizes to accommodate system connections
- Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair/replace damaged equipment
- Install, tag and band copper cables on various classes of surface and submarine Naval Vessels.
- Performing all duties required to layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, onboard Navy vessels.
- Troubleshooting and testing of copper cables and circuits.
- Possess skills and abilities to perform the requirements of a shipboard or airframe electrician's trade with little supervision or guidance.
- Knowing how to read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.
- Knowing and understanding the use of all tools of their trade such as multi-meters, pin crimper's, soldering and expected to accomplish the more complex tasks associated with electrical installation of cable, military circular connectors, panel box and power terminations, etc.
- Familiar with basic computer skills
- Familiar with MS-Office programs including Word and Excel.
Qualifications
- Must be a Marine Electrician with a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships (technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement)
- Must have experience and multi-pin copper connector certification of cables per Navy Standard Item 009-73 (MIL-STD-2003-5)
- Must be familiar with NAVY Standard Items
- Ability to read, understand and follow customer work item requirements, drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Individual must have a keen attention to detail and be quality metric driven
- Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus).
- Fluency in English (verbal and written)
- Successful completion of Navy "A" School ("C" School is a plus) or successful completion of a Shipyard or commercial Electrical apprenticeship program (recognized shipyard apprentice graduates are a plus).
- Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Navy Electrician's Mate or Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Electrical) preferred
- Secret DOD security Clearance preferred
- Must have experience and multi-pin copper connector certification of cables per Navy Standard Item 009-73 (MIL-STD-2003-5)
- Proven experience as an electrician
- Experience in marine electrical systems
- Prior experience supervising other personnel
- Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.
- Demonstrate ability to build MIL-SPEC connectors of various types and sizes using both soldering and crimping techniques
- Ability to read and understand electrical and installation drawings and blueprints
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Excellent physical condition with the ability to lift 50 pounds on your own
- Willingness to travel to various locations in support of ship maintenance availabilities
- Flexibility with regards to scheduling and planned support due to constant Navy movement
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines
- Ability to obtain and maintain Navy DBIDS security credentials

Salary
R&P offers a highly competitive compensation package that includes contributions towards health insurance, 401(k) matching, and other non-salary benefits. Exact salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $25.00-$30.00 per hour ($52.000,00-$62,400.00 annually).
