Job Purpose and Overview

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the management, organization, and control of key projects from inception to completion at one or more of Dawn's U.S. locations. Projects could range from new plant acquisitions, infrastructure replacements, and processing and packaging line redesign to improve capacity and efficiency, as well as creating and updating detailed equipment specifications and asset criticality assessments.

The Senior Project Engineer is also responsible for maintaining project timing and financial control on all projects to ensure strategic marketing and sales impacts. This position will coordinate with the site managers and appropriate plant personnel on the development of Capital Expenditure Request(s) to ensure accurate scope and cost alignment.

Work Environment & Travel:This is a remote position with approximately 25% travel. While the role allows for remote work, we prefer candidates who reside near our manufacturing location in Denver, CO.

What will you do as a Sr. Project Enginer at Dawn Foods?



  • Lead and assist in the development of pre-project approval documents, including project charter, project management plan, estimate, and milestone schedule creation.
  • Monitor design progress and ensure deliverables are met in adherence to established project key components.
  • Lead project scope, cost estimation, and scheduling with internal stakeholders to align with project deliverables to coordinate bid package development and release for construction bidding and field execution.
  • Evaluate, select, and issue formal contracts with contractors, consultants, and OEMs through bidding and prequalification vetting processes.
  • Direct and execute installation, construction, and commissioning of assigned projects.
  • Manage and control project budget, providing cost forecasts and cash flow projections through development of project cost and status reports on at least a monthly basis or as requested by project stakeholders.
  • Manage and maintain project milestone schedules with integrated detailed scheduling as agreed upon in the project charter.
  • Project leadership of construction management and plant startup assistance as needed to ensure successful project execution.
  • Coordinates all aspects of Projects from design through final installation in collaboration with Team.
  • Ensure designs and all stages of the project are compliant with internal Corporate, FSQA, and EHS requirements and all Federal, State, or Local regulations such as FDA, EPA, and OSHA.
  • Coach and manage project & plant engineers in project development, including compliance and use of all CapEx Tools and Processes.
  • Support the development of various other tools and best practice rollouts, including but not limited to internal specifications, asset criticality assessments, and base drawing sets.
  • Applies effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in all directions to multiple levels of experience.



What Does It Take to be a Sr. Project Engineer Dawn Foods?

Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.



  • BS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum of 8years of experience managing large capital projects with increasing responsibility and complexity in a process manufacturing, industrial, or related environment.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
  • Experience in the food industry or consumer packaged goods industry is preferred.
  • Experience with coaching and managing project & plant engineers preferred.
  • MS Office, AutoCAD, and MS Project.

Compensation Range:

$102,640 - $169,350 with bonus incentive.
