Position Summary

Role Summary:
The Project Director is an integral member of the Workforce & Economic Development team and will be responsible for facilitating and overseeing programming related to student success, workforce training and employment.
Reporting directly to the Director of Workforce Development, The Project Director is responsible for leading, planning, and executing strategic projects to ensure successful outcomes aligned with organizational goals. This role requires a highly organized and results-driven leader who can manage teams, oversee budgets, and coordinate with stakeholders to drive project success. The Project Director will provide strategic direction, mitigate risks, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope. This position is ideal for a professional with strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to project team members, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of project staff as needed.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and accountability.
  • Ensure project staff adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and industry best practices.


Minimum Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Services, Social Work, Management, Social Sciences, Public Administration/Policy, Urban Planning, or other relevant areas.
  2. A minimum of three (3) years social service planning and work experience.
  3. Two (2) years of experience working with multiple community partners and administering program contracts, can be concurrent with #2.
  4. Demonstrated administrative and managerial skills, including ability to plan and coordinate activities among various agencies and institutions and monitor performance according to contracts.
  5. Ability to utilize a personal computer and software programs, especially Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  6. Valid Michigan driver's license with fully insurable driving record.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to work at a desk for long periods of time and operate a computer workstation and telephone.
  2. Must be able to communicate both in person, via email, and over the telephone with a variety of people each day.
  3. Occasionally carries and moves light loads up to (25 lbs.)
  4. Must be able to stand at minimum of 30 minutes.
  5. The minimum reasoning skills necessary for this position include the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization does not exist.

Work Schedule
Must be able to work 40 hours per week with flexible hours on occasion, including nights and weekends to accommodate meetings and functions critical to position goals and objectives.

This position is grant funded. This grant, and consequently this position, may be terminated at any time if the grantor determines that performance measures are not being adequately met. Employee performance will be measured by the program's successful outcomes and the appropriate documentation thereof.

In addition, as a grant-funded, non-union employee, the selected candidate's employment is at-will and the employment relationship may be ended by either party ( MCC or the employee) at any time, with or without notice.
