Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our Benefits Operations team as a Premium Operations Manager!

About the role

As a Premium Operations Manager, you will lead the Benefits Premium Operations team, focused on coaching and developing employees and overseeing daily premium processing tasks.

What you will do




  • Provide team members with coaching, feedback and developmental opportunities
  • Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance
  • Oversee training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and make effective staffing decisions
  • Provide coaching, direction and leadership support to team members to achieve employee, business and customer results
  • Challenge and inspire employees to achieve business results and motivating them through leadership and by celebrating successes
  • Act as primary Premium Operations department liaison for internal and external audits (i.e. state compliance audits, E&Y audits, etc.) and with Finance departments, like Accounting, Treasury and Cash Management
  • Actively seek and implement process improvements that will increase overall efficiency and quality of work
  • Provide periodic reports to senior leaders as assigned
  • Advocate for shared resources to help ensure that administrative system and supporting administrative tools properly support product administration
  • Establish and maintain positive relations with all external and internal distribution partners, Symetra internal contacts, and all customers
  • Prepare and maintain annual department budget
  • Represent the team on projects and initiatives; fill in for director as needed

Compensation

Annual Salary: $85,400 - $142,300 plus eligibility for Company Annual Bonus

Who you are




  • High school diploma required
  • Bachelor's Degree or related work experience
  • Group insurance experience strongly preferred
  • At least 2 years' experience in people management
  • Working knowledge of accounting framework and financial concepts
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing workflow processes, service levels, regulatory requirements and procedures
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to guide team toward achieving aligned goals
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
