Job Description:

The primary role of the staff accountant is to handle the company's accounting procedures and maintain a healthy financial profile ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local principles. The staff accountant prepares/reviews financial documents, reports, and statements and advises on general financial matters (e.g., tax returns, month-end closures, budgeting, consolidation of financial statements, auditing). This role requires a high level of experience with Jd Edwards and One Stream and is comfortable Independently managing segments as assigned.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Staff Accountant Responsibilities



  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Maintains the general ledger
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit
  • Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
  • Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software
  • Manages the purchasing and invoicing system
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
  • Completes other duties as assigned


What You Bring to the Table:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or relevant field or a minimum 5 years of related experience required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically a high understanding of Excel
  • Proficiency in JD Edwards and One Stream
  • High level of knowledge with general financial accounting and cost accounting
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Proven experience with Concur or Expenditure system is required
  • Excellent understanding of best practice accounting principles
  • Experience and accuracy preparing tax reports
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Bilingual Spanish both verbal and written strongly preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is a sedentary role however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.

Pay Range: $65,000-$80,000
