Summary:

In alignment with TTCs mission and values, this position is responsible for accounting and reporting related to assigned industries/affiliates within the TTC structure. This position will support overall accounting and reporting requirements, as well as managerial support to Projects, Accounts Payable and Payroll Departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Ongoing research and documentation of updated payroll tax rates, rules, and policies
  • Ongoing research and documentation of updated excise/use and business property tax rates, rules, and policies
  • Ongoing research and documentation of updated unclaimed property rules, and policies
  • Accounts for all transactions and ensure accurate and transparent record keeping
  • Prepare, review, audit and ensure accuracy of monthly general ledger accounts
  • Assist and offer guidance within Accounting, including payroll, projects and accounts payable
  • Oversee efforts to ensure compliance and adherence to local, state, and federal tax regulations
  • Prepare and review all regularly scheduled Payroll filings
  • Prepare and review all regularly scheduled excise/use tax filings
  • Prepare and review all regularly scheduled business property tax filings
  • Prepare and review all required unclaimed property notifications and filings
  • Ongoing compilation, review and audit of prior tax data and filings
  • Research and respond to necessary tax notices
  • Assist with annual and recast budget preparation
  • Analyze project budgets, prepare periodic reports that compare budget to actual costs
  • Participate in month-end accounting processes
  • Oversee various tax accounts and submit applications to regulatory bodies
  • Recommend and maintain internal control policies
  • Recommend, implement, and enforce accounting policies
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations and assist in bank account transactions and compliance
  • Assist annual external financial audit preparations
  • Assist with annual and quarterly Corporate state and federal payments
  • Perform various analyses or conduct special projects
  • Crosstrain with peers and coworkers
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Education, and Licensure

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related on the job experience
  • Five (5) plus years of diversified accounting experience with increasing levels of experience, including public accounting, government contracting and/or consolidated financial statements.

Preferred:

  • Certified Public Accountant, preferred or other relevant and equivalent certification
  • Experience with multi-company accounting software - Deltek/Costpoint preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Leadership initiative, accuracy, diplomacy, discretion, personal judgment, professional appearance and conduct.
  • Detail and process oriented with high level of accounting experience.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is usually in an office setting Extensive computer keyboard and phone use during the normal work schedule, along with the possibility of extended periods of sitting at a desk. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Requirements

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift moderately light items up to 35 pounds. Near visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; manual dexterity to operate a telephone and keyboard; lift horizontally and vertically.

Additional Qualifying Factors:

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. In addition, a satisfactory background screening, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States are required.
