We are looking for a dynamic and experienced professional to take on challenging and impactful work in floodplain identification, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and floodplain delineation under general supervision. In this role, you will not only lead essential engineering projects but also mentor and train others in floodplain management. We Require
Four years of work-related engineering experience in one of the above disciplines, which includes experience working with HEC-1, HEC-RAS 1D/2D, HEC-HMS, FLO-2D, and similar modeling software Bachelor's degree in a work-related engineering discipline, such as but not limited to Civil, Geology, Hydrology, Water Resources, Environmental, or Fluid Mechanics Postgraduate degrees or professional-level-related experience may substitute for the education or experience on a year-for-year basis Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration or by the technical board of another state with the ability to obtain Arizona registration within six months of employment

Previous experience working with FEMA, CLOMR/LOMR reviews, and knowledge of FEMA criteria Certification through ASFPM as a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)
Job Contributions
Perform reviews and approve complex designs, models, plans, and/or permits to ensure they meet District or regulatory standards Serve as the technical expert for complex floodplain modeling and/or permitting issues Prepare technical reports and make technical recommendations of a specialized nature regarding floodplain use or delineations in connection with various projects. Manage permit and assignment workloads Represent the Flood Control District in various meetings with other governmental agencies and the public and respond to internal and external requests Coordinate with cities and public agencies; prepare and negotiate Intergovernmental Agreements; make project presentations, project authorization requests, and status reports to staff, boards, and councils Other job duties as assigned
