Job purpose

The Supervisor, Warehouse is responsible for overseeing and handling of all dock operations/personnel. This includes accountability for inbound and outbound freight, as well as adherence to safety and company policies and procedures. The Supervisor, Warehouse will accomplish this through strong leadership and decision-making skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Shares responsibility with warehouse leads to train and lead warehouse employees.
  • Review reports such as stock levels between warehouses and inbound containers.
  • Determines in which warehouse product will be received based on the stock level report
  • Determines with Assistant Warehouse Manager internal transfers between warehouses
  • Orchestrates fulfillment of bin locations utilizing first in first out method.
  • Orchestrates the offloading and loading of Government containers.
  • Assists the Warehouse Manager with scheduling inbound OTG containers.
  • Inspects warehouse equipment and facilities to ensure that it is properly maintained and adhere to proper warehouse safety and fire protocols.
  • Appropriately solves warehouse issues and enforce new processes when necessary.
  • Is the liaison between Management office and warehouse floor.
  • Ensures all warehouses have equipment needed to perform daily operations.
  • Ensures tasks are being done in a timely manner, breaks are taken as needed, also ensures employees are using proper safety gear.
  • Is appointed the Safety Officer.
  • Is also the point of contact for equipment maintenance or repair.
  • Orders supplies such as pallets, stretch wrap, gloves for all warehouses.
  • Work with customer care and other DC's as needed (freight quotes, shipping/receiving, etc.).
  • Able to transition to other warehouses to supervise operation.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 6-10 yrs. previous warehouse experience preferred.
  • 2-3 yrs. previous warehouse supervisor or leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, sales personnel and internal staff.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Previous forklift experience preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to pass forklift and picker certification provided by Global.
  • Dependable and reliable.
  • Ability to work in extreme hot and/or cold weather conditions.

Working conditions

While performing the duties of the job the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee is regularly required to use hands or fingers. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move objects 50-80lbs, occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh 80-150 lbs.

Physical requirements

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of the job the employee is occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally required to work in high precarious places. The employee is occasionally required to work near fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally required to work in outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally required to work in extreme heat.
