What you'll be doing...The Virtualized Engineering and Network Management Group in the Global Network & Technology organization at Verizon is looking for a highly experienced, self-motivated, curious, and technically adept principal engineer to join the growing and fast-paced operations team responsible for building, operating, and improving mission critical 5G / 4G Core systems serving roughly 150M wireless customers nationwide. As a lead engineer of this highly visible, dedicated, and skilled operations team, you will provide technical expertise, oversight, and leadership to create / execute on effective and precise strategies for the seamless and successful operational maintenance of existing virtualized and non-virtualized systems and their associated interactions within the Verizon ecosystem. In addition, you will drive the deployment of new distributed application infrastructure to augment capacity and resiliency in a manner that avoids outages which negatively impact the customer experience. Also, this role will require you to identify and drive improvements to existing distributed application infrastructure and operational practices with various internal groups and vendor partners across the Verizon ecosystem to ensure operational success and optimize efficiencies. This includes giving direction for MOP (Method of Procedure) improvements, detailed design optimizations, capacity/demand analysis, timing of required growth projects, and development of requirements for the successful deployment and integration of new systems. You will be expected to work independently with minimal supervision, while keeping management and project teams fully aware of implementation schedule progress in a timely manner.
You're a technical expert with experience managing multiple medium to large projects at once. Cross-functional work is ideal for you, given your collaborative nature and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders across the organization. You have experience and knowledge in scripting and automation and have a knack for using these abilities to increase efficiency within a production environment. If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $100,000.00 and $205,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours. |
