Position Summary

The Social Services/Pantry Worker will clean and coordinate food pantry. Help put away food pickups. Assist with other social service Programs. Assist with preparation of Corps programs and services. Assist with daily facility maintenance needs as needed.

Essential Functions



  • Assist with all food pantry needs in Riverside/Moreno Valley location
  • Assist drivers with reception and storage of food pickups
  • Maintain a clean and organization system for all food in party and walk-in refrigerator and freezer
  • Maintain a clean and organized system for the shower program and social services area.
  • Supervising shipments and deliveries for the pantry.
  • Run the shower program for the homeless and maintain service logs.
  • Running reports and following protocols for Feeding America duties.
  • Assist with SAM meals for the local elementary schools.
  • Data entry for social services programs and services.
  • Supervising volunteers working in the shower and pantry services area.
  • Work with the property manager to address minor facility needs in social services areas.
  • Run the utility assistance and program and make appointments for potential clients.
  • Assist Corps Officers with Corps program setup and preparations during holiday events.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift up to 10lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone.

Minimum Qualifications



  • High School Diploma
  • Bilingual English /Spanish with Ability to speak and write both languages with professional level skill are preferred.
  • Experience working effectively with clients, staff, and others of diverse backgrounds and interests.
  • Experience working with and helping the homeless population.
  • Good relations and respect for other employees, associates, clients, and the goals and objectives of The Salvation Army.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and clean work environment.
  • Willing and able to maintain confidential information in accordance with Salvation Army and industry standards
  • Ability to adapt and learn new skills quickly.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities



  • Ability to embrace the mission of the Salvation Army.
  • Knowledge of Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Advance computer skills: Experience working with Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, power point, fax, scan, general knowledge office equipment.
  • High ethics and integrity.
  • Ability to work with compassion, kindness, and understanding.
  • A criminal background check is required with certification for protect the mission policies and procedures.
  • Required to have a food handlers' card.
  • Thrive in a team-oriented environment.
