Job Overview The Senior, Technical Designer supports the technical design team, ensuring fit, quality, and construction with precision engineering for Production while maintaining design aesthetics and integrity. They collaborate closely with the Technical Design team to ensure seamless communication and execute accurate, detailed tech packs for all counter samples. Additionally, they support CLO 3D initiatives. What You Will Do Provide support to the technical design team within designated areas of responsibility. Ensure adherence to Macy's Private Brands Brand/Product Standards & guidelines for fit, construction, quality, safety, and cost savings. Drive consistency in fit, quality, and workmanship to maintain Brand integrity. Prepare for fit sessions by measuring samples, entering measurements in PLM, taking fit notes and photos, and following fit protocol. Adhere to the end-to-end seasonal calendar, ensuring timely completion of seasonal deadlines. Escalate any issues with deadlines to the next level as needed. Support Brand/Company initiatives as required. Assist the technical design team in utilizing 3D technology in the pre-fit process to reduce sample iterations and expedite the fit approval process. Support the updating of the Brand Block Library (Specs & e-Patterns) and assist in maintaining the Virtual 3D Block library. Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities. Provide clerical support within designated areas of responsibility. Skills You Will Need Technical Design Expertise: Proficiency in patternmaking, fit, garment construction, grading, and understanding their impact on product cost and manufacturing processes. Knowledge of Apparel 3D Software: Familiarity with Apparel 3D software is a plus, demonstrating the ability to leverage technology for efficient pre-fit processes and reducing sample iterations. Understanding of Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of manufacturing, machinery, and production processes is advantageous, aiding in the alignment of technical designs with production requirements. Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for seamless collaboration within the technical design team and with other stakeholders. Proactive Problem-Solving Ability: Proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving, demonstrating the capacity to address issues efficiently and effectively. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a dynamic team and global business environment, responding effectively to changing priorities and requirements. Detail-Oriented with Strong Organizational Skills: Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are crucial for maintaining accuracy and efficiency in executing technical design tasks. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills enable effective evaluation of fit, quality, and workmanship to drive consistency and meet brand/product standards. Proficiency in PLM and MS Office Suite: Proficient in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software or similar systems, as well as MS Office Suite, facilitating efficient data management and communication. Who You Are Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 1+ years of experience in technical design / patternmaking for apparel. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
