Good news! 1WorldSync is seeking a Director of Engineering (UGC) to join our team. 1WorldSync is the industry leader in product content management. With approximately 550 employees across the US, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, and the UK, we're seeking a Director of Engineering to support our UGC (User-Generated Content) division.
Reporting directly to our Chief Technology Officer , the Director of Engineering will be responsible for the engineering strategy, execution, and performance of our UGC engineering team. They will provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to our engineers, fostering an environment of collaboration and ensuring a high quality of care of our systems. They will work cross-functionally to align objectives and drive forward results.
As Director of Engineering at 1WorldSync, responsibilities include the following:
  • Lead and manage 5 engineering teams, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development
  • Collaborate heavily with the product team in leading sprint teams to deliver product enhancements.
  • Be visible outside of the technology organization and help facilitate cross functional collaboration.
  • Work directly with customers to partner on evolving our platform and solutions
  • Identify and solve important technical problems with front-end, QA, product, devops and UX teammates in an agile development environment.
  • Share ownership and establish expertise on large sections of our codebase while identifying, learning, and applying a variety of technologies and working in the AWS ecosystem.
  • Promote high quality code both through leading by example and by mentoring engineers via pairing, design review, and extensive participation in code reviews.
  • Reduce the complexity of our code base, infrastructure, and production operations to maximize the effectiveness of our platform.
  • Collaborate across teams and help guide the teams through technology and design choices with their software development process.
  • Develop and promote following architecture best practices and principles.
  • Own and promote the technical vision.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • 7+ years experience with hands-on Java, Kotlin, Python, JavaScript, and/or Ruby development, database modeling and design, and scalable web architectures
  • 3+ years experience with PowerReviews technologies and tools such as Spring Boot, Spring MVC, SQL, AWS, CircleCi, Terraform
  • 3+ years experience leading multiple engineering teams, including backend, frontend, and DevOps in a SaaS environment
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience scaling engineering organizations and implementing agile methodologies across multiple teams
  • Exposure to machine learning, AI, or big data analytics in a SaaS context
  • Prior experience working with distributed teams across different time zones
  • Knowledge of security best practices for SaaS applications, including OAuth, SAML, and RBAC
  • Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks and CSS
  • Experience leading teams through cloud adoption a plus
  • Strong software engineering and software architecture skills
  • Team player with excellent work habits and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Compensation:
  • $145,000-$155,000 base salary
  • This role is eligible for an annual discretionary corporate bonus.
  • Candidates can expect salary offers that range from the minimum to the midpoint of the salary range.

Additional Details:
  • This is a hybrid position that requires 3 days per week at our Chicago headquarters location.
  • This role requires the candidate to have the authority to work in, and be located in the US.
  • This position requires up to 5% travel.
