Clinical Research Assistant

The Allan-Blitz Research Group, a cross-institution collaboration between the BWH Division of Global Health Equity, the MGH Division of Infectious Diseases, the MGH Sexual Health Clinic, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and numerous international partners, are developing novel point-of-care diagnostic assays to address disparities in the care of sexually transmitted infections globally. The group is seeking a talented and motivated Clinical Research Assistant who can play a central role in this effort. The Research Assistant will work on a variety of projects in infectious diseases, especially sexually transmitted diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and field implementation, working closely with Dr. Lao-Tzu Allan-Blitz.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree with a strong academic track record, superior interpersonal skills, a high degree of self-motivation, and interest in a career in medicine, science, and/or public health. Additional experience in clinical research, database management, and basic laboratory skills are strongly preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities:
Project Coordination Responsibilities:
*Provide assistance on day-to-day operations of other research activities including, but not limited to, literature reviews, drafting reports, implementation, creating educational documents, and communications.
*Recruiting patients for study participation and obtaining informed consent
*Maintaining study data using REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture)
*Assisting with additional data entry and management responsibilities
*Interacting with principal investigators regularly, ensuring patient safety and adherence to proper study conduct
*Additional general administrative support
*Assisting with other academic projects in collaboration with principal investigators (e.g., academic lectures, scientific conference presentations)
*Working with other research assistants and clinical research coordinators on research projects
Laboratory Responsibilities:
*Labels and analyzes laboratory samples obtained from the Sexual Health Clinic
*Sets up and prepares routine experiments as directed
*Conducts analysis of results and may begin interpretation of results
*Maintains laboratory notebook
*Prepares lab reagents, instruments, chemicals, and equipment
*Assists with organizing materials for publication or presentation
*Maintains and orders supplies

High School Diploma or Equivalent required
