Position Details:




  • Full-Time, Night Shift, 7pm-7:30am



Sibley Memorial Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine, has a distinguished history of serving the community since its founding in 1890. As a not-for-profit and full-service community hospital, Sibley offers medical, surgical, intensive care, obstetric, oncology, orthopedic and skilled nursing inpatient services, as well as a 24-hour Emergency Department. Sibley's campus is also home to Grand Oaks, an assisted living residence, a medical building with physician offices and ambulatory surgery and imaging centers.

The Psychiatric Technician provides care to meet the emotional, rehabilitative, and physical needs of the psychiatric patient under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Treats all patients with dignity and respect at all times during their hospitalization. Maintains confidentiality regarding the patient's identity and psychiatric condition. Limits relationships with patients to therapeutic activities within the confines of the overall treatment goals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Skills and Abilities Required:




  • Physically able to meet job demands. May include prolonged periods of standing and walking. Must be able to lift/transport/restrain adult patients and to operate required tools, instruments, and equipment.
  • Basic computer skills and keyboard familiarity.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and effective judgment skills.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Team oriented, takes initiative.
  • Must be versatile, flexible, and positive in stressful situations.
  • Must be able to recognize/report obvious, serious and emergency situations immediately.
  • Must be able to maintain and support patient, family members, and self in coping with health-related crisis situations in a psychiatric setting.



Minimum Education and Experience:




  • Graduation from high school with further preparation from one of the following sources:


    • Minimum two years of college with academic work in psychology or related field.
    • Graduation from an approved psychiatric technician training program.
    • Experience working as a Clinical Associate, Nursing Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or Psychiatric Technician.


  • Current CPR Certification required.

Salary Range: Minimum $18.00/hour - Maximum $24.95/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
