Description & Requirements The Pattern group at Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard specializes in the design and development of data visualization tools and experiences in support of scientific discovery and communication. We're looking for an experienced visualization "engineer slash designer", who combines technical expertise with a creative eye, for a principal role on the team. Along with demonstrated software and design skills, the ideal candidate will be curious, collaborative, and self-motivated, able to shepherd bespoke projects through their full lifecycle, from ideation to implementation, work with existing teams and platforms to incorporate new data visualization capabilities, and be a leading contributor to the strategic direction of the group. As a member of the Pattern group, you will join a collection of software engineers, artists, and designers who leverage best practices in data visualization, software, and design to develop creative web-based resources that advance and communicate the innovative scientific research happening at the Broad and beyond. In addition to ensuring project requirements are synthesized and executed coherently, this principal position will involve setting the technical and design direction of the team's output, as well as working closely with leadership to cultivate new opportunities for scientific impact at the institute.
