JOB SUMMARY DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB

A Senior Firmware Verification Engineer is responsible for leading verification plans and requirements for large hearing aid projects. They take the whole picture into account and look along multiple dimensions of a problem. Senior Engineers are capable of receiving an under-defined task, bringing clarity to the task, and accomplishing the task with high quality. They can independently and professionally interact with other teams. A Senior Firmware Engineer demonstrates both breadth and depth of knowledge.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/RESULTS

Understand and participate in establishing requirements



  • Understand system level requirements impacting firmware deliverables.
  • Collaborate with others in the organization to define and improve system level requirements.
  • Define, document, and review firmware level requirements through analysis and simulations. Verify functionality of the firmware using manual and/or automated approaches
  • Design and document tests based on requirements to ensure good test coverage.
  • Create unit tests, semi-automated test, and/or automated tests.
  • Implement and deploy automated tests using languages such as Python or C.
  • Follow up on failed tests and system level integration issues in a timely manner.
  • Initiate and develop new test approaches and improve existing test approaches.


Follow and improve established processes and initiate new processes



  • Diligently follow development processes such as code reviews, creation of documentations, coding conventions, etc.
  • Identify gaps in the existing processes and look for new opportunities to improve productivity.
  • Enhance existing processes and initiate and lead the creation of new processes.


Mentor other engineers and help in the technical and professional growth of the team



  • Coach and mentor team members.
  • Conduct tutorials and create documents to share knowledge.
  • Be a role model to newer or less experienced team members.


Coordinate projects



  • Lead the creation of project plans and work estimates.
  • In scrum projects, take on the product owner or the scrum master role.
  • Proactively communicate and coordinate project activities with other teams.



JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education



  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering; or
  • MSEE in related fields; or
  • PhD in related fields


Experience



  • 8+ years of experience with Software Verification and/or Test Systems Development (with BS); or
  • 3+ years of relevant experience (with MSEE); or
  • 2+ years of relevant experience (with PhD)


Knowledge / Technical Requirements



  • Experience in Firmware and System level testing
  • Experience with Requirement Analysis and Requirement based testing
  • Experience in design control for regulated products and knowledge of applicable regulations and standards used in regulated industries, such as ISO 13485, IEC 62304)
  • Domain knowledge of one or more of the following is required:
  • Digital Signal Processing
  • Wireless and wired communication and related protocols.
  • Embedded firmware development.
  • Knowledge of languages such as C and assembly.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as MATLAB and Python required
  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuitry.
  • Knowledge of architecture of programming devices such as DSPs and Micro-controllers.

  • Proven ability to lead a team of verification engineers
  • Great oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be driven, methodical, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and individually.
  • Proficiency in problem solving.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The target pay rate for this position is between $106,250 - $131,250 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include: geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is eligible for a bonus based upon performance results. There is no guarantee of payout.
