Role and Responsibilities:


We are seeking a Mess Attendant Supervisor to join our team! In this hands-on role, you will assist and lead the mess attendant team, ensuring daily operations run smoothly, and that safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards are met.



  • Supervise and manage a team of mess attendants, ensuring they are trained, motivated, and adhere to military standards in the galley.

  • Ensure the kitchen, dining areas, and food storage spaces remain clean and sanitary according to military health and safety regulations.

  • Monitor food inventory levels, assisting with ordering supplies and organizing storage to ensure stock is maintained.

  • Enforce safety protocols for food handling, hygiene, and equipment use to prevent accidents and contamination.

  • Assist with dishwashing and general cleaning duties when necessary to support the team during busy periods.

  • Manage staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage during meal times, particularly during peak hours.

  • Address and resolve issues related to guest or personnel complaints regarding cleanliness and services.

  • Track and report on team performance, offering feedback and addressing any training or performance issues as needed.

  • Maintain documentation for food safety, cleanliness, and meal reports.


Qualifications:



  • Proven experience in a food service or mess attendant role.

  • Proven experience leading or supervising a food service team.

  • Knowledge of safety equipment and proper handling of kitchen tools and machines.

  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, cleanliness standards, and military health protocols.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with team members and address guest or personnel concerns.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address issues quickly and efficiently.


Preferred skills:



  • Familiarity with inventory management and supply ordering.

  • Strong organizational skills to handle scheduling, inventory management, and meal planning.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak meal times.

  • Strong communication skills to work closely with military personnel and fellow staff.


Physical & Environmental Demands:



  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift or carry heavy items.

  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and manual dexterity required for food preparation.

  • Fast-paced movements and the ability to multitask effectively.

  • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures in kitchen and storage areas.

  • Interaction with cleaning chemicals, with proper safety precautions.

  • Noise from kitchen equipment and customer traffic.

  • Working in close proximity to others in a team environment.

  • Repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
