Title: Head Coach, Women's Basketball Department: Student Development Campus Location: Arnold/Main Campus Salary Range: $9,000 per season Work Mode: This position requires a full-time in-person presence on campus or at alternative locations. Hours Per Week:20 hours per week Work Schedule:Part Time, Evenings and Weekends Position Type:Part-Time Faculty, Exempt Position Summary The Head Women's Basketball Coach is responsible for leading all aspects of developing and managing a competitive Division II program within the parameters set by the College, Region 20, and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). This is a part-time, contractual position with in person presence required during the season, October 1 - March 31. The head coach will be expected to maintain contact with student-athletes for offseason development and academic monitoring in coordination with full-time athletic staff.

Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd.

As a part-time faculty employee you are entitled to these benefits. Job Duties and Responsibilities 1. Oversee all aspects of the student athlete development and performance of the women's intercollegiate basketball program: - Responsible for the instruction of student-athletes through development of practice and game plans in the sport of basketball; - Organizing, recruitment/evaluation, scholarship offers of prospective student-athletes; - Conducting/Coaching and supervising practices and player conditioning in partnership with the associate athletic trainer, strength and conditioning coach; - Optimizing technology (e.g. scouting, recruiting) to enhance performance; - Preparing and implementing game strategies; - Mentoring and providing appropriate leadership, direction and supervision relevant to the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes in partnership with the coordinator, student-athlete success; - In partnership with the coordinator, sports medicine and student-athlete welfare, create a productive and positive environment that supports student-athlete welfare. Adhere to all prevention of injury and return to play/learn procedures; - In collaboration with full time staff, coach dedicates time to holistically developing student-athletes with the goal of retention, graduation, or transfer throughout the contracted period; - Developing and fostering relationships with four-year coaches to promote student-athletes to the next level.
2. Manage administrative functions within the women's intercollegiate basketball program: - Developing a practice schedule for the program in coordination with the coordinator of athletics; - Supporting the director of athletics in the completion of a game schedule following the Region 20 master schedule; - Participating in campus, department, region and NJCAA meetings and required trainings; - Adhering to all Region 20 and NJCAA rules and regulations, and maintaining commitment to compliance; head coach responsibility for entirety of program; - Abiding by College and Athletics Department policies and procedure; - Supporting the director of athletics in separating and executing strategic plan for program; - Forecasting and managing budget needs relevant to equipment, scheduling, recruiting/scholarship, travel, etc.; - Coordinate with the athletic specialist, budget & operations to reconcile program expenses from travel and recruitment; - Support the hosting of Region 20, District, and National tournaments.
3. Under the direction of the director of athletics, provide supervision and direction to the staff of the women's basketball program: - Hiring, retaining, and conducting coaching conversations with quality assistant coaches; - Appropriately delegating responsibilities to assistant coaches; - Supervising and effectively monitoring all aspects/activities of assistant coaches, providing necessary leadership and staff development
4. Participate in promotional and public relations to advance athletic programs by: - In partnership with the assistant director, athletic communications, managing social media accounts and sharing relevant information for general social media accounts and website related to the women's basketball program; - In partnership with the athletic specialist, outreach and events, engage youth sport programs and the local community by hosting or attending clinics, camps, or events; - Maintaining alumni relationships for the development of future donations; - Support fundraising initiatives for the women's basketball program. Required Qualifications: - High School Diploma - Three (3) years of high level coaching experience (high school, college, high level club). - Demonstrated success in recruiting and administering a competitive basketball program. - Knowledge of techniques and strategies of the sport. - Demonstrated knowledge and application of NJCAA rules and regulations preferred. - Commitment to high ethical standards and academic success. - Strong communication and organizational skills. - Experience with budget management. - First Aid, Safety & CPR certification required to maintain employment - can be renewed after hire. Preferred Qualifications: -Associates Degree preferred.
