Back End Software Developer

BTS Software Solutions is seeking a Back End Software Developer to support the planning and development of military exercises. This opportunity is for an upcoming award expected in May 2025.

Job Description:

Responsible for managing the interchange of data between servers and users. Primary focus will be development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. A basic understanding of front-end technologies is required. An ability to work alongside multiple disciplines of developers and find the best solutions to complex/challenging problems. Design server-side architecture of web, mobile, and native applications, and maintain high performance communications between applications and databases. Maintain quality and ensure responsiveness of applications. Familiarity of optimization techniques for maximum speed and scalability. Maintain code integrity and organization. Understanding and implementation of security and data protection. Design and implement data storage solutions

Primary Location: Fort Eustis Virginia or Fort Leavenworth, Kansas

Degree Requirement:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with three (3) years' work experience or completed Software Development Program with three (3) years' work experience

Relevant Experience:

• Proficiency with an Object-Oriented Programming Language (e.g. Java, C++, C#, etc.), and OOP design patterns
• Proficiency with Relational Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and Non- Relational Databases (MongoDB, Redis)
• Knowledge of front-end technologies and platforms, and experience developing applications using JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• Proficiency managing hosting environments, including database administration and scaling an application to support load changes
• Knowledge with *nix servers and shell scripting
• Knowledge of code version tools such as Git, TortoiseSVN, Maven.
• Strong language and writing skills
• Excellent organizational skills

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with three (3) years' work experience or completed Software Development Program with four years' work experience. Must be a US citizen.

Pay Range: $180,000 - $195,000
