Job Purpose

Provide technical expertise and support to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation, maintenance, and enhancement of National Grid's gas distribution network in alignment with the corporate strategic plan. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the Distribution Gas network, applying engineering principles to analyze the system, drive improvements and efficiencies, file regulatory reports to the PSC, DOT, and EPA, and implement integrity programs aimed at enhancing the distribution system and mitigating risks.

Key Accountabilities
  • Perform basic or standard engineering analysis and provide recommendations associated with gas capacity requests, system operating procedures, equipment and facility integrity assessments, and system analysis
  • Perform basic or standard engineering analysis/calculations and designs (e.g., site layout, piping design, material specification, etc..) associated with small scale complex projects and/or participate in large scale complex projects
  • Independently collate and analyze data within one area using pre-determined tools, methods and formats to support the department's decision-making process
  • Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies and processes
  • Conduct specific projects within area of capability and perform engineering studies, analysis and investigations, under supervision, to recommend corrective action in problem areas, or to prevent problems
  • Perform integrity assessments of distribution pipeline assets and analyze historical information to validate field data.
  • Conduct Risk Analysis to identify the most significant pipeline threats and identify additional measures to address these threats. Perform periodic evaluation of the integrity management program and identify improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the program.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
  • Project Management experience managing against fixed timescales and budgets.
  • Stakeholder Management experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders (both internal and external).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science/Engineering Degree in an Engineering discipline required.
  • Master of Science/Engineering Degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience required.
  • FE/PE preferred.
  • Knowledge in data analytics and reporting tools required.
  • Knowledge of data analytics tools (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Alteryx) preferred.
  • Knowledge of any Business tools (Maximo, ArcGIS, DIS, CSS, Docuware) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, Access)
  • Knowledge of relevant utility industry practices, standards and legislation preferred.
  • Proven experience prioritizing work and managing multiple engineering projects simultaneously within budget and time constraintspreferred.
  • Previous experience working in a Project Management team environment preferred.
  • Proven experience making professional presentations preferred.
  • Commitment to safety as a core value.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Salary: $142,000 - $167,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
