Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Senior Associate Compliance Systems Engineer to support our government customer's Office of Compliance for Cyber and Operations. This office is responsible for implementing a compliance program that ensures operational missions adhere to laws, policies, and other regulatory guidance while leveraging mission authorities effectively. The role involves using your systems engineering expertise to help maintain and improve compliance capabilities and services, working with a variety of stakeholders, and utilizing tools like JIRA and Confluence to track, manage, and optimize compliance requirements. This is an exciting and impactful position in support of national security efforts, where your contributions will directly influence the security and success of government missions.

As the Senior Associate Compliance Systems Engineer, you will work closely with the Compliance Controls team, coordinating the submission, review, and approval of compliance capability and service needs. You will apply your knowledge of the customer's technology architecture and best systems engineering practices to define, validate, and prioritize high-level capability needs, guiding them through the agency approval process.

Your work will also include reviewing Board of Director-approved Comprehensive Review Recommendations, tracking trends across different mission authorities, and maintaining an up-to-date status report that will guide the decision-making process. This position is integral to ensuring the effective management and execution of compliance systems and will provide you with the opportunity to work on some of the most mission-critical programs supporting national security.

Key Responsibilities:

    Systems Engineering & Compliance Management: Apply systems engineering best practices to support the customer's compliance program by defining, validating, and prioritizing compliance service needs through the agency's approval processes.

  • Tracking & Reporting: Use tools like JIRA and Confluence to track the status of Comprehensive Review Recommendations and update reports regularly. Ensure that timelines, assumptions, risks, dependencies, and progress are clearly documented and communicated.

  • Requirements Management: Decompose high-level compliance requirements into functional specifications. Maintain and automate compliance requirements management processes and workflows, ensuring proper vetting and alignment with leadership priorities.

  • Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate with stakeholders across departments to facilitate the submission, review, and approval of requirements. Provide training, guidance, and documentation to requirements submitters and reviewers to improve understanding and efficiency.

  • Training & Mentorship: Conduct regular training sessions on JIRA/Confluence usage, focusing on how to effectively use these tools for requirements management and tracking. Provide ongoing support to ensure that all personnel are fully equipped to manage requirements processes efficiently.

  • Metrics & Continuous Improvement: Develop and maintain monthly status metrics on compliance requirements, ensuring the timely and accurate progression of tasks and requirements. Proactively identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions to optimize the process.

  • Process Optimization: Assist in the pre-coordination of sending requirements to be reviewed and scored. Implement best practices to improve the distribution, processing, and tracking of information across the compliance program.

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.



Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • Seven (7) years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Management, or a related discipline OR
    • Twelve (12) years of relevant experience without a qualifying degree.
  • Relevant Experience: Proven experience in systems engineering, particularly in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. Background in compliance, cyber operations, and national security is highly desirable.
    • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Requirements Management Systems such as JIRA and Confluence. Experience with automation, process workflows, and system optimization.
    • Leadership & Coordination: Strong ability to coordinate and communicate with various stakeholders, ensuring smooth collaboration and alignment of goals. Experience leading or mentoring teams is a plus.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of compliance standards and regulations, particularly in the context of government operations.
    • Technical Writing: Excellent written communication skills with the ability to create clear, concise reports, documentation, and process guidelines.
    • Process Improvement: Ability to proactively identify process inefficiencies and implement solutions to optimize workflows and enhance system capabilities.
    • Training & Development: Experience providing training on complex systems or processes to diverse teams, ensuring effective adoption and usage.
  • Security Clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph required.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
