Job Summary: The Equipment & Tooling Engineering Technician is responsible for providing support to the Equipment & Tooling team and Mechanical Engineering Department, as directed. This role will help develop and optimize assembly and test processes and stations, create documentation, assemble prototypes and production tooling and equipment as well as aid in troubleshooting efforts for the engineering teams. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Drive for the effectiveness and efficiency of the Equipment and Tooling Engineering Team.
- Fabricate and/or assemble tooling and equipment for assembly and testing.
- Work with equipment manufacturers to troubleshoot issues.
- Create and follow general laboratory maintenance procedures and safety practices.
- Draft and maintain production documentation for manufacturing processes
- Maintain the lab and manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability and organization
- Coordinate logistics for engineering tools and equipment between departments and/or sites.
- Perform installation and adjustment of fixtures and equipment by following proper procedures.
- Order, receive, organize and maintain tools and standard hardware for manufacturing and supplies and consumables for laboratories
- Support engineering with updating or modeling 3D designs using SolidWorks to assist in tooling development and modifications
- Assist in troubleshooting tooling issues and optimizing processes
- Support engineering with document routing while also assisting in updating spreadsheets, word documents, and other records to maintain accurate documentation of tooling and processes
- Request and maintain traceability of equipment numbers on tooling, and fixtures, as well as calibration numbers to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards
- Maintain and promote 5S standards.
- Provide input to engineering staff for process, fixture & equipment improvements.
- Assist in builds, such as 3D prints, testing, etc.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience: Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to work well in a team environment effectively, efficiently, and prioritize subtasks in order meet project deliverables and deadlines.
- Capability to follow engineering drawings and procedures and provide feedback.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
- Strong hands-on skills and experience with light machine tools.
- Working knowledge of lab equipment (calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, pin gages, multimeters, etc.) and able to perform measurements.
- Strong organizational skills as well as attention to detail.
- Carry out small projects independently and complete assigned tasks.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interface with Research and Development, Quality Assurance, and Production teams.
- Experience using 3D printers, presses, drill press, chop saw, etc.
- Proficient in SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years Technician experience.
- Working knowledge of use and maintenance of 3D printers, presses, drill press, chop saw, etc.
- Experience with manual Mills and Lathes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint
- Knowledgeable of cGMP requirements, preferably ISO 9000 requirements.
- Working knowledge of metrology equipment (vision systems, optical comparators, CMMs, etc.) and able to perform measurements.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate's or technical degree preferred. Compensation The anticipated Hourly Rate range for this position is $28-40 Per Hour plus benefits. Domestic and international travel is necessary (up to 20%).
