NC State University is seeking an energetic, innovative, student-centered leader for the position of Assistant Coordinator, Sports Programs Events. Wellness and Recreation is looking for a dynamic, student-focused leader to support our evening and weekend intramural sports, sport club activities, and special events. You will empower student staff to deliver exceptional experiences that contribute to student success. This is a temporary, seasonal, part-time position starting May 5, 2025 and ending September 2, 2025. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Sports Programs.
Special Event Oversight: Coordinate and execute special event programming, including summer camps, club sports tournaments, and special events, adhering to established rules, regulations, and departmental guidelines. Program Development Support: Assist in the development, planning, and implementation of special event programs, contributing to the creation of engaging and successful events. Facility Management: Participate in the setup and breakdown of playing fields, courts, and event spaces, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and proper equipment setup. Report any maintenance concerns to the appropriate personnel. Customer Service: Provide professional and courteous customer service to participants, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive event experience. Equipment Inventory Management: Assist with the distribution, collection, and organization of sports equipment, maintaining accurate inventory records and reporting any damaged or missing items. Student Staff Supervision: Provide supervision, guidance, and support to student staff, including supervisors and officials, during special events. Incident Response and Reporting: Respond to incidents and accidents promptly, providing first aid as necessary and adhering to established emergency procedures. Complete detailed incident reports as required. Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with participants, coaches, officials, and other staff members to ensure smooth event operations. Reservation Management Assistance: Assist with the management of special event reservations, verifying bookings, coordinating logistics, and ensuring client satisfaction. Field Maintenance Support: Assist with the painting of outdoor fields utilizing a painting robot, following established procedures. Other Assigned Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the overall functioning of the department.
Working Conditions:
Seasonal Employment: Temporary, part-time position from May 5, 2025, to September 2, 2025. Flexible Availability: Requires evening and weekend work. Varied Work Environment: Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors, with potential exposure to diverse weather conditions. Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift/move equipment as needed.
