Purpose:

Worley's newly expanded global Corporate Affairs team supports the business and our leaders by bringing insights to decisions, crafting and amplifying narrative, managing risks and creating opportunities for our strategy to succeed.

This role plays a key part in achieving Worley's ambition and strategy and is responsible for guiding media engagement in the Americas (primarily U.S.) and supporting internal and external communications activities that align with and advance Worley's strategic and business objectives.

The role encompasses managing media engagement by Worley in the Americas, including for key events, roadshows, and conferences, ensuring clear, consistent and strategic messaging to our target audiences.

It requires a balance of external media strategy and communications expertise, ensuring that both Worley's industry leadership and internal culture are reinforced through compelling storytelling and strategic messaging.

This role is part of small media team that helps safeguard and enhance the company's reputation and supports media-related aspects of crisis and issues management, while helping to build Worley's profile and presence as a contemporary, trusted company playing a critical role in the global energy transition.

Responsibilities:

Americas Media



  • Help develop and oversee Americas-focused media strategy to engage tier 1 and trade media to communicate Worley's identity and message to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with Worley's strategy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with tier 1 media outlets to communicate Worley's identity, narrative, and leadership role in the energy, chemicals, and resources sectors.
  • Manage media inquiries in the Americas, draft holding statements, and handle issues proactively.
  • Lead regional media outreach initiatives that position Worley as an innovative and responsible industry leader in ECR and sustainability, addressing complex political landscapes and protecting our license to operate.
  • Proactively monitor U.S. media landscape, news coverage and news cycles to identify proactive outreach opportunities, and supplement global media monitoring duties as needed.
  • Support crisis communication response in the Americas in coordination with the Group Director, Corporate Affairs and other Senior Directors, acting as a key advisor during fast-moving high-stakes situations.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Director, Global Media Relations, prepare senior executives for engagements and media interviews.
  • Help develop the creation of media content, including press releases, speeches, and opinion pieces.
  • Monitor and analyze global media trends, competitor coverage and emerging risks to inform strategic decision making.
  • Track and report on media performance, ensuring alignment with KPIs.
  • Collaborate across all business units to identify, shape, and amplify key messages, milestones, and subject matter expertise for media and external audiences.


Internal and External Communications



  • Partner with the Global Communications Team to develop engaging stories and content for employee engagement channels, e.g., intranet, newsletters, etc.
  • Support internal communications efforts by developing editorial content, leadership messages, and strategic updates.
  • Identify regional media, internal and external opportunities for the CEO and GE, in collaboration with the Group Director, Corporate Affairs and Senior Director, Global Media Relations.
  • Provide support for internal stakeholders including Marketing, R3 (issues and crisis management), customer teams and other executives and teams as directed by the Group Director, Corporate Affairs and Senior Director, Global Media Relations.

  • Execution of regional media strategies, plans, and campaigns on time and within budget.
  • Growth in positive-neutral media coverage across key regional markets.
  • Increased share of voice and improved regional media sentiment.
  • Strengthened relationships with key media outlets.

What you will bring

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:



  • Extensive experience in senior-level media roles, ideally within large, global organizations.
  • Proven track record in crisis and issues management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to shape complex industry topics, including the energy transition and sustainability and how they relate to the ECR sectors, into compelling hooks for media coverage.
  • Ability to simplify complex topics and present them effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate reputational risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of the media landscape in Americas and strong relationships with key US media.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across diverse teams and regions.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into clear and compelling narratives.
  • Agile in responding to changing priorities and industry trends.
  • Discretion in handling sensitive information and the ability to navigate complex media landscapes with sound judgment.

Required:



  • Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a relevant discipline.
