Department: Oncology Support Services

Schedule: FULL Time (40 hours per week); Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm

Locations: The Webber Cancer Center located in Warren (three days per week) and the 23 Mile Road and Romeo Plank facility in Macomb Township (two days per week).

The Oncology Dietitian will be responsible for overseeing the nutritional care of individuals throughout all stages of their journey, from initial diagnosis, though treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiation therapy), and into survivorship after completing their prescribed course of treatment.

Adaptability and flexibility are critical as the Oncology Dietitian will work within several departments/clinics and with a variety of providers.

This position will cover two locations; The Webber Cancer Center located in Warren (three days per week) and the 23 Mile Road and Romeo Plank facility in Macomb Township (two days per week).

GENERAL SUMMARY:



  • Provide medical nutrition therapy and evaluate effectiveness of treatments. -
  • Assess patients for nutritional status.
  • Provide interventions/treatments including diet therapy, counseling or specialized nutrition supplements. -
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing and ancillary services such as speech pathology or physical therapy. - Monitor tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional regimen and recommend therapy adjustments as necessary. Provide medical nutrition therapy
  • Evaluate effectiveness of treatments. - Provide nutrition information for the community that may include public speaking, news releases and other forms of publications. - Research and take initiatives to resolve nutrition care related complaints and problems. - Assist in monitoring meals including intake, diet compliance and tray accuracy. Maintain sanitation of food preparation area(s) through planned and unannounced inspections.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED



  • Educator specializing in Diabetes Management preferred.
  • Bachelors in Dietetics
  • Registration thru Commission on Dietetics Registration - CSO (preferred)
  • 2+ years experience (preferred)


CERTIFICATION/LICENCES REQUIRED



  • Dietitian/Nutritionist credentialed from the Commission on Dietetic Registration obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. -
  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association
  • BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association
