In this position, you will play a crucial role in the operations of the Western Regional Traffic Management Center, overseeing the Advanced Traffic Management Software System (ATMS) to effectively manage traffic flow on the designated Interstate and Expressways. Your responsibilities will include the direct operation of a network of Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) and traffic detection sensors, which are essential for identifying and assessing both recurring and non-recurring traffic incidents that could disrupt the Regional Freeway System. You will also be tasked with utilizing these CCTV systems and associated automated centralized High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) controls to monitor and manage the daily operations of the I-279/I-579 HOV Lane, ensuring it opens and closes as scheduled. Additionally, you will gather and relay real-time traffic condition updates to the public via Variable Message Signs and recorded announcements on the Highway Advisory Radio System. Coordination with the Pennsylvania State Police will be necessary for dispatching Freeway Service Patrol Vehicles to address incidents during their operational hours. You will also collaborate with neighboring districts to manage field devices within their jurisdictions and report any hardware issues they may encounter. Effective communication will be maintained through the Base Station 800 MHz Radio system, allowing you to connect with various preprogrammed voice groups. Furthermore, you will be responsible for maintaining a detailed log inventory of all incidents on the Interstate and Freeway System, evaluating the effectiveness of responses to these incidents. Accurate data entry into the Statewide Roadway Closure Reporting System (RCRS) will be part of your duties, along with relaying incident information to media representatives within the Traffic Management Center and other media partners. Finally, you will implement approved traffic signal timing plans to optimize traffic management and assist in diagnosing any operational issues that may arise. Interested in learning more?
