Leadership & Community Engagement

Job Summary

Develop and maintain a robust, comprehensive community engagement program, including a strong local volunteer service program, and support, as appropriate, for the service-learning initiative and the leadership development program.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee execution of the Serve912 community engagement program on the Statesboro campus, including community liaisons, volunteer trips, service events, and community partnerships
  • Recruit, select, train, and supervise a team of up to 10 student leaders to serve as community liaisons
  • Coordinate the Serve912 trip program including the recruitment and training of student trip leaders, program marketing, budget management, and program assessment
  • Build positive relationships both on-campus and in the local community
  • Support the service hour tracking process through digital software and serve as department representative to platform administration
  • Coordinate the department's annual service-related events including, but not limited to, Holiday Helper Tree, Step into Statesboro, Sculpt-It for the Hungry, National Volunteer Month, and Caring for Community Days
  • Oversee community engagement website pages and weekly OLCE newsletter
  • Teach leadership courses within the office's co-curricular leadership program as needed
  • Supervise at least one (1) graduate assistant
  • Represent unit and university at recruitment events


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience which could include professional work experience, graduate assistantship experience, and/or appropriate collegiate experience


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education or a related field

Preferred Experience
  • Teaching experience in higher education
  • Program development, implementation, and assessment experience
  • Experience developing partnerships with student affairs areas and community based organizations
  • Supervisory experience


Proposed Salary

$21.63 - $22.45 per hour

This is non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
