Role:

The Machining Workshop Technician is responsible for maintaining technology and processes to ensure alignment with quality standards, process control plans, and documentation. This role involves addressing machine-related issues and performing maintenance to keep the production process in line with specifications and weekly plans. The technician also resolves minor process and technology problems to ensure smooth production and collaborates with team members on Corrective Action Reports as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Is responsible for using the correct PPE, obeys required processes and procedures.
  • Is responsible for meeting the daily production targets with respect to quality, volume and efficiency. Collaborates with, other zone members and the Zone Leader in establishing priorities, ensures customer due dates are met
  • Use and maintain manual milling and lathe equipment
  • Experience doing manual setups as well as using tooling and fixturing to produce machined product
  • Performs Daily machine check and completes TPM paperwork
  • Deals with technical issues that arise during daily machining operations and if unable to resolves reports to Zone leader/ machining production engineer
  • Performs leak tests and assists in troubleshooting leak test failures
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures. Follows and complies with assigned tasks
  • Promptly reports problems to management and seeks assistance towards resolution of more complex problems.
  • Maintains working area in accordance with good housekeeping practices and 6S standards as defined by management
  • Maintains established quality and time standards. Provides input and feedback for continuous improvement
  • Completes all required paperwork accurately and according to work instructions
  • Raises issues, observations at SIM2 meetings


  • Follows the Kanban system
  • Obeys VTPS rules/standards.



Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.



  • Understanding of Vacuum pumps technology and production system VTPS is an advantage. Practical experience with the use of quality, EHS and lean manufacturing tools.
  • Skills and orientation in milling and lathe, SOPs.
  • Good PC literacy; experience with SAP an advantage
  • Ability to read and understand the production documents/drawings, and published specifications
  • Reports all injuries and/or near misses to management immediately. Participates in and cooperates with accident investigations.
  • Fully participates in assigned training programs. Attempts to perform only those tasks for which proper training has been received. Notifies Zone Leader if faced with a task which is potentially hazardous to self or co-workers due to inadequate training or lack of appropriate PPE.



Education and Experience:



  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in manufacturing or machining environment



Language Skills:



  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret written documents
  • Ability to interpret technical charts and drawings
  • Ability to respond in a professional manner to common inquiries

WORK ENVIRONMENT work is performed in a variety of industrial settings some of which

may include exposure to load noises, fumes, and heavy equipment.

Wage: $27.50/hr
