General Summary:

This is an onsite position intended to support the Avon Lake Engineered Materials Plant. The focus of this role is to coordinate activities related to the site safety program. This is a salaried position and reports to the site's EHS Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Lead Residual Risk Reduction (R3) activities to include hosting assessment meetings and following through on action items stemming from them.
* Collect site safety observations and manage appropriate reports and dashboards.
* Participate on the site Safety Committee and drive action as a result of meetings.
* Participate in incident investigations and execute relevant action items.
* Assist site EHS Manager in ensuring adherence to corporate and other regulatory requirements.
* Execute relevant inspections to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
* Assist in training development and delivery site wide.
* Share daily safety messages and various alerts and serious incident reports.
* Assist EHS Manager in the procurement of safety supplies and equipment to include PPE, tools, signage, etc.
* Manage the site EHS training program to ensure completion of annual training by all associates.
* Other duties assigned by site EHS Manager.

Physical/Environ. Demands
Requires standing and sitting for extended periods of time, talking and listening. Must be able to walk and use hands. Occasionally requires bending, stooping, climbing ladders and stairs. May occasionally be required to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds. Typically work is in a manufacturing environment where noise level is loud. Generally requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, respiratory protection.
Exposure to outside weather conditions is routine. May be exposed to working in extreme heat and humidity. May also be exposed on occasion to dust or fumes.

Education and Experience



  • High School Graduate
  • Career Technical Education or Associates Degree Completed Preferred
  • Bachelors-Engineering or Equivalent Experience
  • EH&S - Environmental, Health and Safety 1-3 years
  • Cross Functional - Chemical Industry
  • EH&S - Safety Improvement
  • Cross Functional - Manufacturing Industry
  • EH&S - Safety Standards
  • Manufacturing - Safety Procedures 1-3 Years
  • Manufacturing - Manufacturing Operations 3 Years




Physical Demands



  • Typically work is in an office environment where the noise level is low to moderate.
