Database Engineer

Location: Jersey City, NJ - Onsite Position

Skills: SQL, Python, Power BI, ETL, Scripting, Batch Jobs

Experience: 3-5 years

Key responsibilities

Write and optimize SQL queries for data retrieval, manipulation, and reporting.

Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and support optimization efforts.

Collaborate with software developers and IT teams to ensure seamless data integration.

Assist in database migrations, upgrades, and patching.

Document process workflows, data flow diagrams

Developing and managing data integration and ETL workflows in Python

Job Requirements:

Basic knowledge of SQL and relational database management systems

Familiarity with database administration concepts, indexing, and normalization.

Good scripting knowledge (Python)

Understanding of data modeling and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.

Basic knowledge of Java programming. (preferred)

Basic knowledge building and deploying web services and RESTapi

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Good communication skills and willing to learn new technologies.

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $37,804 - $99,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
