Overview:
Agile Defense is seeking a highly skilled Forensic Accountant to support a federal law enforcement agency's counterintelligence operations with the development of financial intelligence and targeting products aimed at disrupting foreign influence and illicit financial activity. This role involves combining deep forensic accounting expertise with classified intelligence, open-source information, and proprietary data to map the financial ecosystems of transnational criminal organizations and foreign threat actors-particularly those aligned with China's influence objectives.
This is a unique opportunity to support high-priority national security investigations focused on exposing and dismantling transnational criminal networks, illicit finance activity, and foreign influence threats-particularly those linked to the People's Republic of China. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in forensic accounting, Mandarin language proficiency, and advanced investigative techniques to produce actionable Targeting Packages for use in high-level law enforcement investigations and operations.

Responsibilities/Duties
    • Lead forensic financial investigations that support the identification, analysis, and disruption of illicit financial networks tied to foreign influence, criminal enterprises, or national security threats.
    • Analyze classified intelligence, commercial and open-source data, and proprietary datasets to trace the flow of funds, uncover shell company networks, and illuminate hidden relationships among actors and assets.
    • Leverage niche, country-specific knowledge and global financial documentation practices to identify and validate foreign and domestic entities and individuals involved in illicit activity.
    • Draft comprehensive Targeting Packages that connect financial anomalies to broader national security concerns, enabling the government to take investigative or enforcement action.
    • Apply advanced statistical and analytical techniques to draw connections, identify red flags, and recognize concealed patterns across large volumes of complex financial data.
    • Translate and interpret Mandarin-language financial documents and communications as part of broader forensic reviews.
    • Collaborate with government personnel and stakeholders to ensure financial analysis is actionable, integrated, and contributes to ongoing investigations.
    • Present findings through articulate briefings and written reports tailored for law enforcement, intelligence officials, and interagency decision-makers.
Required Qualifications
    • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) designation.
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Forensic Accounting, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (Educational requirement may be waived with 10+ years of relevant experience.)
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience coordinating or leading complex financial investigations or intelligence programs within the defense, intelligence, or law enforcement communities.
    • Proficient in reading and comprehending written Mandarin Chinese.
    • Expert knowledge of U.S. and foreign financial systems, business structures, accounting practices, and investigative methodologies.
    • Demonstrated ability to apply forensic methods to identify concealed associations and draw evidence-based conclusions from complex datasets.
    • Advanced proficiency in financial software, data analytics tools, investigative databases, and office automation systems (e.g., BankScan, Excel, internet research tools).
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to: Compose detailed, substantive financial intelligence reports; Brief complex findings to investigative teams and senior leadership; Build cooperative relationships with law enforcement and financial institutions; Work effectively in a multi-jurisdictional, high-security environment
Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience supporting federal law enforcement financial intelligence or counterintelligence operations.
    • Familiarity with Chinese financial systems, shell companies, or foreign influence operations.
    • Experience developing or contributing to law enforcement intelligence products or targeting packages.
    • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and dynamic national security priorities.
