Purpose of Position |
This position is responsible for various day-to-day operational activities of Human Resources department involving compensation and classification. Key responsibilities include participating in salary surveys, conducting compensation data analysis, maintaining job classifications, preparing reports on pay and personnel changes, and ensuring accurate
HRIS data entry. Additionally, this role supports compensation-related record-keeping and assists with the administration of pay structures and policies. |
Primary Responsibilities |
- Assist with data gathering and data analysis in different areas involving compensation, such as conducting salary and market analysis, calculating salary and compensation modeling scenarios, salary survey participation, maintenance of positions and jobs related data in HRIS, systems testing in compensation and salary increase process modules of HRIS, data gathering for special projects related to compensation.
- Assist with maintaining and updating salary structures, including related communications. Support the classification and reclassification process for all staff positions at the University by preparing recommendation documents, conducting research on comparable internal and external positions, and updating position data in the HRIS.
- Assist in analyzing pay equity across employee groups to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., FLSA, Equal Pay Act), assist in preparing data for annual salary increase processes and auditing job classifications, pay rates, and HRIS data to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions of routine nature, provide information to employees about policies, wages etc. and serve as a backup in responding to requests from external agencies for wage and salary data, employment verifications, etc.
- Assist with preparing various reports related to compensation, including personnel changes reports for the Board of Regents meetings, reports requested by external agencies such as the Department of Labor, the State of KY, etc.
- Maintain position description files, including archiving paperwork related to positions that no longer exist and periodically clean up, delimiting positions in HRIS, preparing folders for newly created or reclassified positions.
- Assist with various employee events including employee appreciation, annual picnic, staff awards, employee recognition events, HR department events etc.

Qualifications |
Bachelor's degree and three years' related experience preferably with courses related to human resources or business administration, or data analysis.
Basic understanding of employment equity regulations, compensation-related laws and regulations (e.g.,
FLSA, Equal Pay Act, wage and hour laws), HR functions and best practices, strong analytical and quantitative skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related business and communication
Attention to detail and accuracy in data management, reporting, and record-keeping, familiarity with
HRIS systems such as
SAP, Workday or willingness to learn new
HRIS systems, excellent organizational and time management skills, meticulous attention to detail, ability to handle confidential and sensitive data with discretion and professionalism. |
