Join NC State's Facilities Business Systems unit as the Assistant Director of Business Applications and Support, where you will play a vital leadership role in supporting critical systems and applications that keep our campus running efficiently.
Reporting directly to the Director of Business Systems, this position oversees the AiM Technical and Functional teams and serves as a strategic leader in managing and enhancing the business applications and data analytics infrastructure across the Facilities Division. Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) operations across multiple entities campus-wide

  • Oversee financial processes related to CMMS, including billing and program support for all units within the Facilities Division
  • Maintain security protocols and manage three databases, a data warehouse, and a data repository
  • Apply technical principles of application analysis, system design, testing, debugging, and documentation to support and enhance business applications
  • Lead upgrades and new implementations of system practices in an evolving, fast-paced environment

  • Provide technical direction to programmers, analysts, and project teams to ensure alignment with business goals
  • Extract, analyze, and report on key data to provide valuable business intelligence insights to leadership
  • Manage and integrate business intelligence tools, dashboards, and reporting systems to support data-driven decision-making
  • Standardize and oversee custom reporting on financial, business, and operational performance
  • Develop and test business solutions based on organizational needs and feedback
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for relevance and adaptability within the Facilities technical environment
  • Regularly collaborate with the Director of Business Systems to ensure optimal performance and continuous improvement of business applications

Other Responsibilities

  • Position will require extensive collaboration with Facilities departments and university customers to ensure all procedures and standard operating procedures (SOP) are utilized and all customers are being billed accurately
  • Manages all Business Systems and Analysis employees as well as a Fiscal Tech Specialist, and the Customer Service Center who support and provide input to the system
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master's degree and at least one year of relevant experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree with at least two years of relevant experience OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience

    - For management-level roles, also include with the above requirements 1-2
    years of supervisory experience.


Other Required Qualifications

  • Experience managing and supporting a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including data integration and storage
  • Strong understanding of system security, troubleshooting, and integration with enterprise platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively with varied audiences
  • Proven leadership in managing technical teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Project management experience with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of financial systems and terminology related to maintenance and operations
  • Proficiency with SQL and familiarity with data reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
  • Experience designing reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support data-driven decisions.
  • Familiarity with database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) and related design and optimization principles
  • Comfortable working with tools such as Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Suite
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software systems and technologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing AiM, an Integrated Work Management System
  • Experience with MongoDB, Oracle, and SQL Server databases, including data management, querying, and optimization
  • Knowledge of Apache Tomcat and related web server technologies, including deployment, and management of web applications
  • Experience developing complex workflows to automate system processes
  • Experience interfacing with other enterprise systems to seamlessly exchange information
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning systems such as PeopleSoft and Banner
  • Knowledge of modern web development technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with mobile web applications and solutions, both iOS and Android platforms.
  • Experience working in a large organization
  • Skilled in capturing accurate maintenance and construction data, including work orders, asset tracking, preventive maintenance schedules, and inventory management
