Summary of Position: |
Direct and coordinate the men's basketball program to include recruiting, practice planning, student-athlete development, monitoring of academic success, and adherence to NCAA, GLIAC, and University policy and guidelines.

Required Education: |
Bachelor's Degree. Must possess a strong desire to teach and facilitate the academic and athletic needs of students. Must have thorough knowledge of NCAA, GLIAC and University rules and excellent communication skills.

Required Work Experience: |
Five years of effective coaching and recruiting at the collegiate, professional or major high school level. Must exhibit sound leadership qualities with clear and effective communication skills both orally and written. Must have experience in recruiting, player development and roster management.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Exhibit strong leadership and professionalism in dealing with student-athletes, maintain integrity beyond reproach and foster a motivating environment while operating a program with a high degree of discipline and accountability. Oversight of daily practice planning, game preparation, recruiting and scholarship allocation. Support and monitor player's academic success and personal issues. Coordinate game scheduling and team travel. Manage budget, expenditures, purchasing and scholarship allocation processes. Engage in public relations initiatives that create revenue and positive image for the University. Perform other administrative duties associated with the position or assigned by the Athletic Director. Recommend for hire, supervise and evaluate staff cultivate and maintain meaningful relationships with alumni, parents and supporters. Direct recruiting efforts in compliance with NCAA requirements, including scouting, communication, visits and talent cultivation. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives. Operates university motor or personal vehicles safely while carrying out job responsibilities. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

Represent Ferris State men's basketball at conference meetings, rules education seminars, community involvement activities, conferences and seminars related to athletics.
