Overview The Senior Lease and Financial Reporting Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and accuracy of lease accounting and related occupancy activity as well as the preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual and adhoc reporting. Duties and Responsibilities Lease Accounting:
- Ownership of ASC 842 lease reporting process, including journal entries, reconciliations and reporting.
- Maintaining the Company's lease accounting tool (Trullion), working closely with the Real Estate and Legal departments to ensure all executed leases and any embedded leases are accounted for properly and timely.
- Management of the Company's IBR rate using the tools provided within Trullion's platform.
- Properly classifying and recording lessee, lessor, sublessor and related-party leases with associated tenant improvement allowances and other incentives.
- Creation of and maintenance of equipment lease schedules currently outside of the Trullion tool, working closely with Operations to ensure accuracy of our equipment schedules.
- Preparation of CAM, utilities, property tax, subtenant, and other occupancy-related journal entries, reconciliations and reporting.
- Analyzing and interpreting lease and other occupancy-related accounts, identifying trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
Financial Reporting:
- Preparing monthly consolidating financial statements on a standalone basis as well as for the public parent company, internal operating companies, and other external stakeholders.
- Preparation and ownership of the quarterly reporting package and submission process (for parent company public filings).
- Prepare, reconcile and maintain all intercompany activity and accounts, including the related reporting.
- Preparation of Service Company standalone financial statements as well as specific jurisdictional standalone financial statements (i.e. Puerto Rico).
- Assisting with the coordination and administration of various external audits.
- Research on a variety of technical accounting matters under US GAAP.
- Assisting with the implementation of new accounting standards.
- Drive continuous process improvement in all areas of responsibility.
- Assist in ad hoc projects as they arise.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- B.S. or above in accounting
- ASC 842 lease accounting experience
- Financial reporting experience
- Must be detail-oriented
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills; ability to prioritize key competing projects
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong written and communication skills
- Experience with SAP preferred
