General Description: This analyst internship position is focused on supporting the delivery of analytics and insights to Chartwells Higher Ed's operators at the University of Texas at Dallas surrounding food & beverage operations. You will be working closely with the leaders in the hospitality group at the University of Texas at Dallas, developing skills and competencies to understand what is needed to be successful in the world of IT support within the hospitality industry. You will gain valuable experience in the following areas: Operations, Marketing, Administration, Guest Services, Problem Resolution, Planning and Implementation of Innovation and Client Relationship Skills. The Requirements: * Interest in the IT Support industry * Attitude of a leader * Enjoyment of inspiring others * Articulate * Good to better interpersonal skills * Enjoy building relationships * General interest and knowledge Interest in one or more of the following: * Customer Service * Technology Troubleshooting * Data Analysis/Management * Procedure Development * Quality Assurance Job Responsibilities (May include any or all): * Project Management * Data Analytics * Financial Analysis * Digital Product Management * Operations * Executing operational standards * Financials, P+L, Loss Prevention * Safety and Quality Assurance: Safe food in a safe environment * Assuring an exceptional guest experience * Client Relations and Contractual Commitments * Associate learning and development * Operational support of serving platforms * Working in different settings: FOH, BOH, Catering, Marketing & Administration * People management (schedules, time management) * Inventory management * Troubleshooting various IT related issues * Report development Functional Analyst Job duties will include: Data Analysis and Analytics: * Ensuring data accuracy & cleanliness for proper analysis. * Conducting data-driven research and generating reports. * Collecting data and analyzing using data analysis tools and techniques. * Providing recommendations and key insights to management team. Project Management: * Coordinating and managing IT projects related to Boost and other initiatives. * Setting project timelines, milestones, and deliverables. * Collaborating with cross-functional teams for project execution. Financial Analysis: * Evaluating financial data, including sales, revenue, and expenses. * Preparing and updating financial reports. * Develop forecasts and budgets, identifying risks and opportunities * Contributing to profit and loss (P/L) management. Digital Product Management: * Assisting in the development of "Boost: Campus Food Ordering." * Defining and prioritizing product features. * Collaborating with teams to ensure successful product rollout. Operations Management: * Overseeing revenue center operations, optimizing processes. * Monitoring operational metrics and quality assurance. * Observe food and beverage operations to better understand bottlenecks, points of friction, and identify further areas of opportunity through contextualizing the data. * Analyze and build optimal solutions around specific business needs (labor, speed of service, menu concentration). * Working on Oracle EMS Server. Data Visualization: * Develop reporting (heat maps, dashboards, status updates) standards and formats for operator end use. * Making data more accessible through visualization tools. IT Related: * Help install and configure different point of sale systems across the campus. * Collaborate with business partners to help setup transaction systems on different workstation platforms. * Design workstation interfaces using buttons and structure their functions accordingly. * Configure menu administration platforms for mobile app services. * Help administrators and supervisors to setup necessary IT Utilities and devices to help meet their everyday needs. * Work with different digital and IT teams to help make catering and dining technological solutions seamless across campus and beyond! Learning Objectives: * Demonstrate awareness, understanding, and skills necessary to work in a diverse environment * Experience opportunities to learn, observe, and practice a variety of experiences in the world of hospitality in addition to IT Support Required Skills: * Pursuing a Bachelor's (or higher) degree in business analytics, computer science, statistics, economics, finance, or a related field * Experience (work or school assignments) in at least one of the following tools: SQL, Statistical software package (R strongly preferred), data visualization (Tableau strongly preferred) * Experience in Excel modelling or school experience in financial modelling a plus * Strong communication and presentation skills * Can share examples of working effectively in a team environment Tools and Software used: * Microsoft Excel * Oracle Hospitality - Reporting and Analytics * Symphony Database - Programming and for FOH user * BOOST Mobile Platform - Admin Panel Compass Digital * Starship Technologies Platform Job Summary
This position is paid, but not eligible for benefits such as medical, relocation, or housing. Because this position requires you to perform services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work (such as winter and summer breaks when food service needs decline or cease). Any such periods during which you do not perform work on the Company's behalf may be unpaid and deemed a temporary layoff. However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work year-round, potentially at a different location during break periods. Business needs may vary from year to year.
