As a Sr Director Account Management , you will play a key role in leading your team's efforts in establishing and maintaining relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, negotiating contracts for specialty pharmaceutical products, and interacting with many internal stakeholders and business partners. This people leadership role will also play a key part in negotiating purchase discounts and understanding drug pricing strategies. This role requires people leadership skills coupled with a solid sense on handling cross functional collaboration. This role requires an advanced proficiency using MS Excel for analyses, the ability to convey complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, and someone who is adaptable, able to work independently, and be comfortable sometimes dealing with ambiguity.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • As a people leader you will lead your team: hire, train, mentor, coach, promote, and support your team to produce their best work
  • As a commercial leader you will be involved: spend 30% of your time partnering with your team and leaders to close opportunities for our integrated pharmacies
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of services, contracts, financials, key contacts of clients within our manufacturer clients and prospects
  • Sets the vision, strategy and tactics for their team to drive account sales and product access
  • Manages their team to retain and grow clients through proactive relationship management, recognizing new opportunities within the current statement of work or portfolio


    • Builds and fosters senior level relationships with biopharmaceutical manufacturers and internal stakeholders and business partners


  • Develop and iterate scalable commercial plan across portfolio of products for team to execute
  • Fosters a customer-focused culture throughout the organization to deliver excellence and recommend methods to improve quality and service, with an emphasis on delivering on customer requirements
  • Derive, lead and present business plans to maximize channel value to executive leadership
  • Utilize deep understanding of the drug channel and how pharmacy interacts with payors, patients, providers and Pharmaceutical manufacturers

Required Qualifications:



  • 8 + years of Account Management (inclusive of management experience) with external clients (beyond internal partners, patients, or prescribers) which must include:


    • Experience evaluating, interpreting, and negotiating contract language directly with clients
    • Experience utilizing metrics to drive outcomes and to identify service opportunities and/or investments
    • Experience developing and delivering custom reporting that enables market and program insights
    • Experience using financial models and to assess the financial health of a client program


  • 3+ years of experience in leading commercial, sales, or marketing teams in the healthcare industry
  • Track record of superb financial results driven by your teams' contributions
  • Experience working with and leading cross-functional teams (e.g., ideate new solutions, participate in solution design, coordination across internal and external groups, champion the customer experience)
  • Experience delivering formal presentations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, etc.)
  • Willingness/ability to travel up to 35% of the time for business reviews/conferences/team meetings



Preferred Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of experience working in pharmacy benefit management (PBM), specialty pharmacy or biopharmaceutical manufacturer
  • 5+ years of experience in a people leadership role
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial, sales, or marketing role within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • 3+ years of experience in price negotiations in the healthcare industry

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
