Job Summary: This role will be responsible for:
- Preparing financial, operational, and business-related analyses related to bad debt and direct expense
- Monitoring and preparing financial forecasts based on inputs from business owners and historical and expected trends
- Monitoring ongoing bad debt and direct expenses for accuracy and results compared to forecast and accruals
- Compiling and preparingfinancial performance metrics, reports and presentations, along with communicating results to key stakeholders
- Identifying reporting and forecasting improvements that can be made to reduce manual workload and increase team performance
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the timely and accurate production of weekly, monthly and quarterly metrics, reports and analyses on write offs, bad debt expense and direct expense.
- Prepares budgets / forecasts and monthly, quarterly and annual financial analyses for bad debt and direct expense.
- Leads the creation and maintenance of complex financial models that forecast bad debt and direct expenses.
- Coordinates with key internal business stakeholders to determine appropriate modeling assumptions and structuring for future budgets and forecasts and also applies changing assumptions to determine expense impact to actual expense compared to prior budgets and forecasts.
- Monitors general ledger activity on a monthly basis and works with Accounting to ensure costs are recorded accurately.
- Works with business owners and Accounting to prepare and record monthly accrual transactions.
- Clearly communicates and presents analyses to senior management for financial decision making.
- Independently and/or cross-functionally conduct special projects that monitor, report and control risk factors driving bad debt and direct expense.
- Leads the process of gathering and analyzing drivers of bad debt and direct expense.
- Responds to ad hoc reporting requests by leadership.
- Performs all aspects of work with a high degree of effectiveness, efficiency and accuracy.
Working Conditions:
- Will report to the Houston, TX, or Princeton, NJ office
- Open office environment working a hybrid schedule 3 days in the office and 2 days remote
- Some overtime could be required to meet financial forecasting commitments or as special projects arise.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in math, data analytics, business, finance, accounting, or economics from an accredited college or university required
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a financially focused and/or data analysis role with forecasting experience strongly preferred
- Proficient with Excel used to prepare reports and perform data analysis using lookup formulas and pivot tables.
- Proficient with Python to consolidate data for analyses and to use for multi-variable forecasting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer candidates with financial or accounting work experience
- Prefer people or project management experience
- Experience building financial models that use trends and multiple inputs to forecast future results
- Obtains general knowledge of accounting concepts (income statement, general ledger, accruals, debits and credits)
- Experience with SAP General Ledger systems and/or Hyperion Planning systems is a plus

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and produce quality results but can also work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to resolve complex finance and accounting issues
- Demonstrates experience leading and delivering on programs/projects of various sizes & durations
- Experience establishing, simplifying and/or improving processes, analyses and models using enhanced technical or software skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and able to use good judgment to make recommendations and decisions
- Service oriented - responsive to internal customers & stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of competitive electricity markets or other reoccurring service industries is a plus
- Demonstrates accounting / project accounting capabilities in order to perform financial analyses
- Experience with Hyperion Planning and Hyperion Financial Management or comparable products
Physical Requirements:
- Required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
